Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois represented in the General assembly, That John Turney, Constantine Kaltenbach, Edward H. Snow[,] and John G. Potts their associates and successors in the Town of Galena be and they are hereby constituted a body politic and corporate under the name and style of “Wildy Lodge Number Five of the Independant Order of Odd Fellows”, for the purpose of producing harmony and good fellowship, promoting their common interest, disseminating useful knowledge, to relieve and give succor to the distressed of their own Order[,] and for the general purposes of charity and good-feeling and for no other purpose whatsoever
The said Corporation is declared and hereby made capable in Law to sue and be sued, plead and be impleaded, to have a common seal and the same to alter and renew at pleasure, Provided: that ths said Corporation shall not hold more than One acre of ground with the improvements thereon, except such as shall be donated to said for the sole use and behoof of said Corporation
