AN ACT to legalize the assessment of taxes taken in the counties of McHenry and Stark, in the year 1839.

Assessment legalized
Sec.[Section] 1. Be it enacted by the people of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly, That the assessment of taxes taken in McHenry and Stark counties in the year 1839, shall be good and valid, and in every respect legal as if the same had been taken under the provisions of the act concerning the public revenue, approved Feb. 26, 1839.

1Joseph Naper introduced HB 101 to the House of Representatives on January 3, 1840, and the House referred it to a select committee. The committee reported back later that day and recommended adding “and “Stark” to the title, to which the House concurred. The House passed the bill on January 13. The Senate passed the bill on January 30. The Council of Revision approved the bill on February 1 and the act became law.
