To the HonorableThe Senate and House of Representatives in Congress assembled
We the undersigned petitioners being residents of the Town of Oswego and its vicinity would respectfully represent, that the Country on and adjacent to the east bank of Fox river between this town (Oswego) and Ottawa in Lasalle County is very poorly supplied with Post office priviliges. that said Country on the east bank of Fox River is quite densely populated and far advanced in improvements, containing as many elements of civilization as many of the older settlements. that said settlements upon the east bank of Fox. River being confined to the timber and groves upon east bank form one extended settlement and cannot be supplied profitably by any cross mail, that the only mail route which can supply the imperious wants of said community with Post office priviliges is a route from Ottawa, via Norway Newark and Osuego to Napierville in Dupage County. that said route is upon one of the principal Market roads leading from Ottawa to Chicago via Napierville. and your petitioners would most humbly solicit your Honorable Body to establish said Post route as above described
