To the Hon. the senate and House of Representativesof the United States
The undersigned citizens of the Counties of Will & Iroquois in the state of Illinois
beg leave respectfully to represent that the want of Mail facilities on the south
side of the Kankakee & Iroquois Rivers is a serious inconvenience to the inhabitants
who have formed dense & numerous settlements in this district & many of whom have
to travel ten or fifteen miles to reach a Post Office & to cross the rivers above
named which are often impassible. Your petitioners therefore pray that a Post Route
be Established from Wilmington in Will County by Horse creek. Yeats, Hawkins settlement,
Sammons & Spring Creek to Middleport in Iroquois County & Your petitioners as in duty
bound will ever pray &c
