To the Honorable the senate and Hous of Represented Representatives of the united states in congress assembled
the undersigned citizens of st Louis st charles & Warren counties in the state of Missouri Respectfuly represents that it would be much to our convenience on and near a [mail?] number 47 4717 From St Charles to Pinckney and but very little if any aditional expences two the poste office departeme^nt^ two have it change to run from st Louis throug what is call Bohame Bottom crossing the missouri River at Howells Ferry wher it will take the old rout on buy Missouriton Augusta [Femuosag?] Marthasville to Pinckney leaving out no office on the oald road the distance from st charles to Pinckney the way the mail now travels is about sixty miles nine or ten on the same road which a dailey mail runs ^and^ then fiftee or 18 Miles to Missouriton before the maile is opened the distance from st. Louis buy Bohome Bottom to Pinckney by the proposed rout will be about seventy five miles[.] It will give us a more direct communication with saint Louis where we have a market for our produce and is important to give and receiv information as early as possible for our mutual advantage the rout will pass through a rich and flourishing section of saint Louis county the citizens of which we are informed verry inconveniently situated in respect to port offices and would ask for them if the rout is established
