To the Honorable the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States in Congress
as assembled;
The undersigned citizens of saint Charles and Warren Counties in the state of Missouri
Respectfully represents that it would ^be^ much to our convenience living and near near mail rout number 4717 From saint Charles to Pinckney and but very little if
any additional expence to the post office department to have it have it change to run from st Louis throu what is called Bonhome Bottome crossing the Missouri River at Howells Ferry wher it would take the old rout on buy Missouriton Augusta Femeosage Marthasville two Pinckney leaving ot ^out^ no office on the old road[.] The distance from st charles to Pinckney the way the mu maile now travels is about sixty miles nine or ten on the same road which a dailey mail runs and then1 fifteene or 18 Miles to Missouriton before the Maile is open the distant from St. Louis buy Bohome Bottom to Pinckney buy the proposed rout will be about seventy five miles[.] It will give us a more direct communication with st Louis wher we have a Market for our produce and is important to give and received information as earley [...?] as possible for our mutual advantage the route will pass Throug a rich flourishing section of St Louis County the citizans of which we are informed very inconveniently situated in respect to poste offices and would aske of them if the route is established
