To the Honorable the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States in Congress
assembled.
The petition of the undersigned citizens of the counties of Montgomery, Bucks and
Lehigh, in the State of Pennsylvania,
Respectfully Sheweth, That whereas our community labor under an inconvenience for
want of a Mail route between the village of Sumnytown, in the county of Montgomery,
and the village of Emaus in the county of Lehigh, a distance of Eightteen miles,
and whereas a line of Stages have recently been established and are now running regularly
three times a week between those places, We the undersigned, do respectfully pray
your honorable bodies to establish a mail route between Sumnytown and Emaus, the above
mentioned places, the mail to be carried three times a week each way in Stages, and
we will pray &c.
