At a meeting of the Inhabitants of the Township of Perry Called for the purpose of
taking into [...?]consideration the propriety of estab establishing a Post office in said Township[.] said Meeting convened at the House of Charles Locke on the 11th of March 1848 and organized by Chooseing James H. Mills Chairman and Lyman Bennett Secretary of Said Meeting.
Resolved that we deem it of vital importan[ce] that a mail Route be established on the State road Leading from the village of Byron
in Shiawassee County to the Capital of this state being a distance of thirty five
Miles. through the business part of the country.
Resolved that we Recomment unan unanimously that Charles Locke Reciding on said Route in the Township of Perry on the S.E. ¼ of Sec. 21, to be Post Master
in Perry aforesaid [T?]. 5 N. R 2 E.
