^5^Sec.[Section] 1. Be it enacted by the people of the State of Illinois represented in the General assembly. That so much of the “seventh division of the Eighteenth section of the “act to establish & maintain a General System of Internal Improvement,” as authorises the construction of a Rail Road from the termination of the Illinois and Michigan Canal, to1 Galena2 be and the same is hereby repealed
Sec 2nd The money appropriated, and intended by the in the said act, for the construction of the Rail Road aforesaid, is hereby appropriated to the Construction of a Rail Road from the termination of the Canal, Via, Knoxville & Monmouth to Oquawka on the Mississippi River
^6^Sec 3rd The board of Commissioners of public works, are hereby authorised and required to cause the said Route, to be surveyed[,] estimates made, in the same manner, that other rail roads, in this State are,
^7^Sec 4. The said board of Commissioners of public works, shall so soon as surveys & estimates are made as required in the 3rd section of this sectionact, put under Contract so much of said road, Commencing at the termination ^of th[e] ^ Illinois and Michigan Canal as they shall ensure the speedy ^& final^ Completion of the same as soon, as practicable,
^8^Sec 5. This rail road, shall be under the same

laws & regulations, that other works of the same nature are in this state & shall be taken to be and deemed a part of the system of Internal Improvements in this state
