^5^Sec.[Section] 1. Be it enacted by the people of the State of Illinois represented in the General assembly. That so much of the “seventh division of the Eighteenth section of the “act to establish & maintain a General System of Internal Improvement,” as authorises the construction of a Rail Road from the termination of the Illinois and Michigan Canal, to1 Galena 2 be and the same is hereby repealed

Sec 2^nd The money appropriated, and intended by the in the said act, for the construction of the Rail Road aforesaid, is hereby appropriated to the Construction of a Rail Road from the termination of the Canal, Via, Knoxville & Monmouth to Oquawka on the Mississippi River

^6^Sec 3^rd The board of Commissioners of public works, are hereby authorised and required to cause the said Route, to be surveyed[,] estimates made, in the same manner, that other rail roads, in this State are,

^7^Sec 4. The said board of Commissioners of public works, shall so soon as surveys & estimates are made as required in the 3^rd section of this sectionact, put under Contract so much of said road, Commencing at the termination ^of th[e] ^ Illinois and Michigan Canal as they shall ensure the speedy ^& final^ Completion of the same as soon, as practicable,

^8^Sec 5. This rail road, shall be under the same

laws & regulations, that other works of the same nature are in this state & shall be taken to be and deemed a part of the system of Internal Improvements in this state
