AN ACT relating to the duties of county commissioners.
1Sec. [Section]1. Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly, That the annual statement, heretofore required by law to be made by the county commissioners’
courts of each county, of the fiscal concerns of their respective counties, shall
hereafter specify the amount of money paid out of the county treasury during the preceding
year; to whom paid, and for what purposes; and likewise the amount of the county orders
issued and unredeemed during the same year.

1On February 20, 1839, Samuel Hackelton introduced this bill in the Senate. On February 23, following the insertion of an amendment by the Committee on the
Judiciary, the Senate passed the bill. On March 2, following the insertion of an
additional section, the House passed the bill. That same day, the Senate rejected the House amendments. The House
then agreed to recede from its amendment. On March 3, Council of Revision approved the bill, and the act became law.
