Sec[Section] 1 Be it enacted by the people of the State of Illinois represented in the General Assembly, That the name of the Town of “Millersburg” in the County of Mercer and State of Illinois, be and the same is hereby changed, to that of Troy, and by that name it shall hereafter be known and distinguished in law.
Sec 2 This act shall, in no wise effect the title to the real estate lying and being within the plat of said Town
This act to take effect and be in force, from and after its passage.

1On January 27, 1841, Hiram W. Thornton in the House of Representatives presented the petition of citizens of Millersburg, requesting a change of the name of said town. The House referred the petition to a select committee. In response to this petition, Thornton of the aforesaid select committee introduced HB 175 in the House on February 3. The House passed the bill on February 10. On February 12, the Senate referred the bill to the Committee on Internal Navigation. The Committee on Internal Navigation reported back the bill on February 26 with an amendment, in which the Senate concurred. The Senate passed the bill as amended. The House concurred with the Senate amendment on February 27. Neither the House nor Senate enrolled the bill.
