Sec.[Section] 1. Be it enacted by the people of the state of Illinois represented in the General assembly, That hereafter all guardians of minors, shall report annually, to the court of Probate on all matters concerning their guardianship, and present their accounts under oath and said court shall have power to compel said guardian to give additional security whenever it shall deem proper and in default thereof remove said guardian. In case of a failure on the part of the guardian to report without good cause shown, within three months of the proper time of making such report, the court of Probate shall remove said guardian and appoint some other person in his place who shall give bond and security as is provided for in the eighth section of the act2 to which this act is an amendment. The Probate justice shall be allowed the sum of one dollar for examining and settling the account of said Guardian in addition to the fees already provided for by law.
Sec. 2. The seventh section of the act to which this act is an amendment be and the same is hereby repealed.3

1Solomon Parsons introduced HB 264 in the House of Representatives on February 15, 1841. The House referred the bill to the Committee on the Judiciary. The Committee on the Judiciary reported back the bill on February 16 with an amendment, in which the House concurred on February 17. The House passed the bill as amended on February 20. On February 25, the Senate declined to read the bill a second time.
