2This bill was to supplement an act passed in February 1831 that amended the original
legislation on guardians and wards enacted in February 1827. The 1831 act amended
the 1827 act by requiring guardians to educate their wards on pain of removal by Probate Courts for failure to comply. It also allowed guardians to loan the money of their wards.
During Abraham Lincoln’s time in the House of Representatives, the General Assembly further amended the 1827 act with SB 229, and sought to further amendment it with HB 264.
