An ACT for the relief of the securities of Amos Mernott.

Proviso.
Sec.[Section] 1. Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly, That Horatio N. Belt, and James H. Perry, be, and they are hereby released from the judgment rendered on the recognizance which they entered into for the appearance of Amos Mernott, on an indictment against him for adultery, in the Greene circuit court, and that this law shall be a sufficient discharge of the judgment or execution (if any such has issued;) Provided, The said Belt and Perry pay the costs adjudged in said cause. This act to take effect from and after its passage.

1Alfred W. Cavarly introduced HB 279 to the House of Representatives on February 18, 1841, and the House passed it. The Senate passed the bill on February 20. The Council of Revision approved the bill on February 24 and the act became law.
