A Bill for an act to provide for the appointment of an agent in relation to the State
House.
1Be it enacted by the people of the State of Illinois, represented in the General assembly,
That the Governor shall be and he is hereby authorised and empowered to appoint some suitable person as the agent of the state to take charge of the State House upon the dadjournment of the present Session of the General assembly, and until the next session of the same; and it Shall be the the duty of such agent to protect the State House at the least necessary expence from injury & decay.
Sec[Section]. 2. It shall be the further duty of the agent by this act authorized to be appointed,
to take charge of all the property belonging to the State and purchased on account of the State House, & to provide for its protection against
loss and decay, Provided, that nothing in this act shall be construed to authorize
such agent to proceed further in the action, or completion of Said House.
Sec. 3. Said agent shall be allowed such compensation for his services as shall be agreed
upon by the Secretary of State, auditor[,] & Treasurer, subject to the approval of the Gen. Assembly
