An ACT authorizing the County Commissioners of Monroe County to borrow money for certain purposes.
1County commiss’rs authorized to borrow money
Sec.[Section] 1. Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly, That the county commissioners of Monroe county are hereby authorized to borrow from any person or persons a sum of money sufficient
to redeem all orders issued by said county commissioners for the purpose of erecting
public buildings.
Com’rs may execute notes or bonds
Sec. 2. The commissioners of said county are empowered to execute any notes or bonds, bearing interest not exceeding twelve per cent. per annum, for the purpose of carrying out this act, which notes or bonds shall be binding
on the people of said county of Monroe.

1James A. James introduced SB 62 to the Senate on December 19, 1840. The Senate passed the bill on December 24. The House of Representatives passed the bill on February 11, 1841. The Council of Revision approved the bill on February 17 and the act became law.
