An ACT to authorize the county commissioners of Pike county to execute a certain conveyance.

On application of persons, county commis’rs to deed lot
Proviso.
Sec.[Section]1. Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly, That the county commissioners of the county of Pike are hereby authorized and required, if they shall deem it expedient and proper, whenever the persons composing the society of the first presbyterian church, in Pittsfield, in said county, and William Ross shall request the same, to convey to such persons or persons as the persons aforesaid may direct, a lot of ground in Pittsfield, conveyed by the said William Ross to the county com-

missioners of said county, in trust for the uses of the first presbyterian church and society in Pittsfield, and such conveyance shall operate to divest the legal title, and release all claim and interest of the county in and to the said lot, and shall be effectual to the passing of the same: Provided, however, That neither said commissioners or the county of Pike shall be responsible for the title to said lot.

1William Ross introduced SB 91 in the Senate on January 7, 1841. The Senate passed the bill on January 15. On January 20, the House of Representatives referred the bill to a select committee. The select committee reported back the bill on January 25 with amendments, in which the House concurred. The House passed the bill as amended on February 12. The Senate concurred with the House amendments on February 27. On February 27, the Council of Revision approved the bill and the act became law.
