An ACT in relation to the School Fund.
1Collectors to pay over money.
Sec.[Section] 1. Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly,2 That the collectors of the several counties in this State be, and they are hereby authorized and required to pay to the school commissioners of
their respective counties the amount due such counties, respectively, on account of
interest on the school fund, upon the presentation of the proper warrants therefor.
Part payment may be endorsed on warrant.
Sec. 2. And if said collectors have not money sufficient to pay the amount due on the
Auditor's warrant, then he shall pay whatever amount of money he may have in his hands, and endorse
the same on said warrant; and the receipt of the school commmissioner shall be a sufficient voucher for the collector, in his settlement with the Auditor.3

1On January 15, 1841, William Bissell introduced HB 110 in the House of Representatives. On January 30, the House amended the bill by striking out all after the enacting
clause and inserting a substitute. On February 4, the House amended the bill by adding
a second section. The House passed the bill as amended by a vote of 80 yeas to 3
nays, with Abraham Lincoln voting yea. On February 9, the Senate passed the bill. On February 17, the Council of Revision approved the bill and the act became law.
