RESOLUTIONS in relation to the survey of the Northern and Western lakes.
1Instructions concerning survey of lakes.
Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives
, That our Senators and Representatives in Congress be requested to procure the passage of a law or resolution by Congress at its present session, directing a survey of the navigable waters of the northern
and western lakes, together with the navigable rivers flowing into, connecting and
flowing out of, the same, as soon as may be compatible with the convenience of the
War Department, and that a chart be made of the same for the benefit of the commerce of those lakes.
1On December 8, 1838, Joseph Naper introduced the resolution in the House of Representatives. On December 10, the Senate concurred in the resolution.
