Resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring herein, That our Senators in Congress be instructed, and our Representatives requested to vote against all further appropriations
for the military academy at West Point, and that the Governor of this State forthwith forward to

each of our Senators and Representatives in Congress, a copy of this resolution.
1Lewis W. Ross introduced the resolution in the House of Representatives on February 9, 1841. The House rejected a motion to table the resolution by a vote
of 27 yeas to 48 nays, with Abraham Lincoln voting nay. The House referred the resolution to the Committee on the Militia.
The Committee on the Militia took no action.
