Resolved, That Thomas Mather, President of the State Bank, and John Marshall, President of the Bank of Illinois, be respectively requested to furnish, for the information of this House, the names of the persons employed in each of the said Banks and Branches, with the
salaries allowed to each, including the Attorneys employed in each of said Banks,
and the amount of compensation to each of said Attorneys.
1Ebenezer Peck introduced the resolution in the House of Representatives on December 16, 1840, and the House adopted it. On December 31, Thomas Mather and John Marshall, presidents of the State Bank of Illinois and Bank of Illinois, respectively, responded to this resolution. The House referred these communications
to the Committee on Banks and other Corporations. The Committee on Banks and other
Corporations reported back the communications on January 5, 1841, and the House discharged
it from further consideration.
