Resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring herein, That the Board of Public Works employ a competent engineer to survey the inundated
lands, lakes, and ponds in the American bottom, and report

to the next Legislature upon the practicability and probable cost of draining the
same, and the probable additional cost of constructing a canal through the same.
