Haggard and Neely sold and repaired chain pumps in Springfield, Illinois. Company partner Samuel B. Haggard owned and operated an endless chain pump factory in Chicago, Illinois and, as of 1852, contracted with an agency to sell and deliver pumps within and around Springfield. After Neely's death, Haggard sold all of the company's stock in trade via a public auction in Springfield in August 1857.
