The Matteson House was a hotel in Chicago, Illinois at the northwest corner of Randolph and Dearborn streets. Joel A. Matteson was the owner and had it constructed in 1850 for $20,000. It opened in 1851 under the management of W. L. Pearce, who was joined by his brother, J. I. Pearce, several months later. Stevens & Willard assumed management of the hotel in 1853, and, in May 1858, they sold to Charles H. Bissell and William S. Goodrich. In 1861, Goodrich left the partnership. In 1864, Bissell sold out to Robert Hill, who managed the hotel until the Chicago Fire of 1871.
