Anderson, Robert A. (Sangamon County)

Robert A. Anderson was a farmer and manufacturer. He and his wife, Ann, lived in Maryland at least as early as 1830, then in Kentucky at least as early as 1835 before they relocated to Illinois. In 1850, he was farming in Sangamon County, Illinois and he and his wife had five children. They lost an infant son in 1851, then their eldest daughter in 1852. By 1860, he was a soap and candle manufacturer in St. Louis and owned $30,000 in real estate as well as another $50,000 in personal property.
