Born: 1821-1822 Indiana

John M. Clark was an attorney, hotel proprietor, and landlord. He studied law at Indiana University, graduating in 1844. In December 1844, he married Araminta Wilcox, with whom he had at least five children. In 1850, he lived in Vincennes, Indiana, worked as an attorney, and owned $2,000 in real estate. Araminta most likely died sometime before 1858, as, in July 1858, he married Julia A. Ramsey. In 1858 and 1859 he owned and operated the Clark's American Hotel in Vincennes. By 1860, he was a landlord and owned $3,500 in real estate.
