Conger, Harmon S.

Conger attended the local academy in Cortland, New York in 1833. He studied law and earned admittance to the bar in 1844 and started a practice in Cortland. He was editor and owner of the Cortland County Whig from 1840-1845. Conger won election, as a Whig, to the U.S. House of Representatives, serving from 1847-1851. At the close of his term, he returned to Cortland and resumed his law practice. In 1855, Conger moved to Janesville, Wisconsin and continued practicing law.
