Davis, Harrison W.

Harrison W. Davis was a soldier, land speculator and land agent. He was the brother of James E. Davis and uncle of Jouetta D. Finney. In May 1836, Davis was among the residents of Lexington, Kentucky, who volunteered for military service in the Texas Revolution, traveling from Lexington to New Orleans to join other volunteers under the command of Colonel Robert Wilson. After Texas secured its independence, Davis stayed in Texas. Acting on behalf of his brother James and others, Harrison acquired claims to approximately 62,000 acres of land in Victoria, Liberty County, and Sulphur Fork on the Red River.
