Doolittle lived in Tazewell County as early as 1836. In 1850, William Doolittle lived with his brother Irwin Doolittle and his family. Both men were farmers and each owned real estate valued at approximately $7,000. Doolittle was a party to several cases with Abraham Lincoln.
