Jacob B. Drake was physician, landowner, and early settler in Bond County, Illinois. Drake was one of the first physicians in Bond County. He initially boarded at a home two miles west of Greenville. He moved to Greenville, where he established his medical practice and lived the remainder of his life. In 1833, he constructed a house in Greenville, which was considered one of the finest houses in the town. In 1835 and 1836, he purchased 360 acres of public land northwest of Greenville. In December 1836, he married Elizabeth Bird. In addition to practicing medicine, Drake was a merchant in Greenville for twenty-five years. In 1850, he was practicing medicine and owned real property valued at $3,000.
