Daniel C. Eggleston was a shoemaker, postmaster, and pioneer settler of Rochester, Illinois. He first came to Sangamon County, Illinois, in 1825. From August 1847 to May 1849, Eggleston served as postmaster of Rochester. In 1850, he was working as a shoemaker. In August 1850, Eggleston married Phebe Lampson. He was still employed as a shoemaker in 1860, and he owned real property valued at $800 and had a personal estate of $100. He died from pleuro-pneumonia after a short illness.
