Greer, Edmund

Greer was an early settler of the area near New Salem, Clary's Grove, and later Petersburg. He was the area's first magistrate and Justice of the Peace (in which election Abraham Lincoln voted for him). He served as the Menard County surveyor from 1839 to 1843 and spent time teaching school as well.
