In Indiana, Squire Hall married Matilda Johnston, daughter of Sarah Bush Johnston Lincoln, Abraham Lincoln's stepmother. Hall moved with the Lincolns and Hankses from Pigeon Creek, Indiana, to Decatur, Illinois in 1830. Hall later moved with the Lincolns and Hankses to Coles County, Illinois. In 1850, he lived with his wife Matilda and seven children in Cumberland County, Illinois. He was a farmer.
