Irvin, Alexander

In 1826, Irvin settled in Clearfield, Pennsylvania, where he entered the mercantile and lumber trades. He served in the Pennsylvania Senate in 1837 and 1838 and after holding several positions in the Pennsylvania court system, he was elected as a Whig to the U.S. House of Representatives, where he served from 1847 to 1849.
