Jones, Thomas

In 1822, Jones married Zilpha Green in Wayne County, Illinois, and in 1829, they settled in Sangamon County. In 1837, Jones was one of the Springfield citizens who pledged funds to secure the move of the state capital from Vandalia to Springfield. Zilpha died in 1850, and Jones remarried to Polly Kelley in 1854. In 1850, Jones was a farmer in Sangamon County, and he owned $1,300 worth of real estate.
