In 1819, Lindsay moved with his family to Sangamon County, Illinois. In 1841, he married Ann Wise, and they settled in Sangamon County, where they had seven children. Lindsay was a farmer in Sangamon County, and sometime between 1850 and 1860, he moved his family to a farm near Elkhart in Logan County. In 1860, he owned $2,000 worth of real estate. Ann died in January 1865, and Abraham later moved to Kansas.
