Turner W. Lloyd was a shoemaker. He moved to Sangamon County at a young age. He eventually settled in Springfield. In 1850, he was a shoemaker in Springfield with property valued at $300. By 1860, Lloyd owned real property valued at $3,500 and had a personal estate of $800.

Lloyd married Mary Graham in December 1840. The couple had at least nine children.
