Maxey, John C. (Maxy, Maxcy)

John C. Maxey moved to Springfield, Illinois, in the late 1830s and was engaged in the livery business. In 1835, he married Farnetta C. Lloyd, with whom he had six children. Maxey held numerous local offices and served on the board of supervisors for Sangamon County. In 1850, Maxey and John Craddock launched an express delivery service between Springfield and Saint Louis, Missouri.
