Joseph S. McIntyre was an attorney in Pekin, Illinois. In addition to his legal work, McIntyre involved himself in local politics. In November 1851, he represented Pekin at the Illinois River Convention held to find ways to improve the Illinois River. In August 1852, he was a delegate to the Whig Party convention in Tazewell County. He continued to practice law in Pekin through at least 1856.
