McGary, Hugh

McGary, brother of Harrison, was the first settler of Clear Lake, Illinois, in 1820. He had fought under William Henry Harrison in the War of 1812 and served in the Black Hawk War alongside Abraham Lincoln. In 1860, he was working as a farmer and owned $8,000 in real estate and $1,000 in personal property.
