Morris, Martin S.

Morris came to Menard County, Illinois, as an early settler and made his home in Petersburg. In 1838, he married Elizabeth Waggoner in Sangamon County, Illinois. A blacksmith, Morris also served as county coroner from 1839 to 1840. In addition, Morris joined the local Masons lodge and attained a high rank in the organization. In 1850, he owned $900 in real estate and was living with his wife Elizabeth and four children. He later moved to Missouri.
