Noel, Lunsford R.

By 1830, Noel had settled in Edgar County, where he served as coroner until 1832. In 1832, he was a sergeant major of Illinois volunteers in the Black Hawk War. After serving in the war, Noel was elected into the Illinois House of Representatives for one term, 1832 to 1834, representing Edgar County. He was then elected into the Illinois Senate for two terms, 1834 to 1838, representing Edgar County. In 1841, Noel was appointed receiver of the General Land Office at Danville, Illinois, a position he held until 1849. In 1850, he lived in Vermilion County, gave his occupation as "gentleman," and owned $3,500 in real estate.
