Thomas J. Northrup owned forty acres of land in and around Quincy, Illinois. In 1853, Northrup sued several men in actions of ejectment in the United States Circuit Court, District of Illinois, to remove them from land in Adams County, Illinois. In two of these cases, Abraham Lincoln represented the defendants.
