Poley, Joseph

The son of French immigrants, Poley was raised in Kentucky, where in 1825 he married Hannah Gossett. In 1829, Poley and his family settled in Auburn township in Sangamon County. Poley's wife died in 1832, and two years later he married Frances Gates. Poley was a Whig, a justice of the peace, and he had accumulated 3,000 acres of real estate by the time of his death.
