Rodes, Waller (Rhodes)

Waller Rodes was a farmer and county sheriff. In 1850, he became sheriff of Fayette County, Kentucky. At that time, he owned $17,000 in real estate and eighteen enslaved people, who ranged in age from two to fifty years old. By 1860, he owned more than $80,000 in real and personal property and still owned eighteen enslaved people, who were between six months and sixty years old. He and his wife, Lurenza, had at least eight children together.
