Rose moved to Macon County, Illinois, sometime before 1830, where he was one of the first jurors in Decatur. By 1840, he had moved to Schuyler County, where he remained until his death in 1861. In 1860, he was working as a farmer with his wife Sarah and owned $4,000 in real estate and $750 in personal property.
