Shoup, Solomon

Solomon Shoup was a merchant. In 1840, he lived in the village of Centerville in Fulton County, Illinois. In August 1843, while still in Fulton County, he married Miram Rockhold. The couple had at least four children together. Shoup was partners with Israel S. Piper in a mercantile and pork-dealing firm operating from Canton, Illinois. By 1860, he owned $1,500 in real estate and another $1,000 in personal property.
