Taylor, John L.

Taylor completed preparatory studies and studied law in Washington DC. He earned admittance to the bar in 1828 and started a practice in Chillicothe, Ohio, in 1829. He served as a major general in the Ohio Militia for several years. Taylor won election, as a Whig, to the U.S. House of Representatives, serving from 1847 to 1855. He served alongside Abraham Lincoln during the Thirtieth Congress.
