Thibodeaux, Bannon G.

Thibodeaux attended country schools and studied law in Hagerstown, Maryland. He earned admittance to the bar and started a practice in Lafourche and Terrebonne Parishes, Louisiana. He served as a member of the Louisiana constitutional conventions in 1845 and 1852. He held several local offices. Thibodeaux won election to the U.S. House of Representatives, serving from 1845 to 1849. He served alongside Abraham Lincoln in the Thirtieth Congress. After his term in Congress, he returned to Terrebonne and Lafourche Parishes and resumed his law practice. He also worked as a sugar planter and manufacturer.
