Watson, Hiram

In April 1830, Watson was living in Sangamon County when he purchased land in the portion of that county that would later become Logan County. Watson was a sergeant in General Samuel Whiteside's brigade of mounted volunteers during the Black Hawk War. After serving from April to May, 1832, Watson reenlisted in early June as a private in Captain Thomas Moffett's company of the Third Brigade of Illinois Mounted Volunteers. He lost his horse, and his company was mustered out in mid-August 1832.
